milkfrost's world

The brand new virtual world of Milkfrost - formally (milkfrost.multiply.com)

The reason why this blog is created is because Multiply.com is shutting down & all posts will be removed. Some posts here are back-dated from Aug 2004 - Aug 2012! I'm just doing a screen-shot & re-posting slowly cos it ain't easy to import every single photo. Therefore, only thumbnails are available for viewing, which also explains the white background & the little note at the end.

Old Street Bak Kut Teh

Few of us hitched a ride from Andy on Friday evening. Since it's raining, we decided to check out the Old Street Bak Kut Teh at Westgate cos it smells very nice

The table is quite cool lah. Got build-in induction cooker, but none of the staff bother to show us how to operate. No one inform us that the order pad is at the pull-out drawer also. We only get to know when the people siting beside us pulls out the drawer to place their order

The other side of the table has a pull-out drawer where the chopsticks & spoons are. No one inform us also! It was only when one of the colleague went to counter & ask where to get the chopsticks from!

Sauces are placed at counter for self-service. They only have light soy sauce, garlic & few types of chilli. No dark soy sauce =(

Food came within 10 mins upon submitting the orders via ipad

The much anticipated Bak Kut Teh. Smells very good when it reaches the table, but it was quite a disappointment. Not much of the bak kut taste & not peppery also. Taste rather bland thou. Bak Kut is also not very tender

Pig stomach soup. Pig stomach is quite tender but soup base is the same as the bak kut teh

Pig Kidney soup. Again, the soup base is the same as bak kut teh. I reckon they cook a huge pot of it & use the same soup base for all the other types of soup.

Braised peanuts is a disappointment cos peanuts is hard

Preserved vegetable not salty but has quite a few bits of pork

I reckon the only thing that meets the standard is the braised pig intestine. Tender & not smelly

You Tiao is good thou. I won't mind coming back for you tiao & soy bean drink. But then again, I reckon buying you tiao & soy bean milk from market will be alot cheaper than eating it here.

We all agree that the bak kut teh here is quite a disappointment & service is almost non-existent, so we will not patronizing it again.
